Preserving Your Land

The Sangamon Conservancy Trust can help you plan the future of you land.  Together the Trust works with the landowner and other groups such as CPA's, tax advisors, legal counsel, and farm managers to define a goal for long-term land stewardship.

Those landowners who want to define long-term goals for their property may:

•  Preserve agricultural land and natural areas while benefiting from potential tax savings
•  Grant development rights through a conservation easement to the Trust.  This dedication may be considered an allowable charitable contribution by the Internal Revenue Service.
•  Use the Trust as a "charitable remainder trust", allowing the tax-free sale of assets, with income paid to the donor during the donor's lifetime.
